How to Prepare Prawn Butter Masala

INGREDIENTS

  • Cooking Time: 30 mins
  • Preparation Time: 1 hour
    • 250 grams prawn
    • 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder
    • 1/2 tbsp red chili powder
    • 1 tbsp masala
    • 3 tbsp curd / yogurt
    • 1 tbsp lemon juice
    • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
    • Salt to taste
    • 1 tbsp melon seeds and 5 cashew-nuts (soaked for 30 mins in water)
    • One chopped medium size onion
    • Small Tomato-1 no
    • Green cardamom-2 nos
    • Bay leaf-1 no
    • Cinnamon stick-1/2
    • Salt to taste
    • 2 tbsp butter
    • 2 tbsp oil
    METHOD OF COOKING:
    • Prawns to be marinated with above mentioned ingredients and leave it aside for one hour. Prepare a cashew paste by grinding cashew and melon seeds to smooth paste. Grind tomato and onion to fine paste. In a pan, heat oil and butter.
    • Fry marinated prawns for 5 to 6 mins on medium flame. Remove prawns from pan and serve in plate. Add up bay leaf, cinnamon and cardamom in a pan and toss well.
    • Add tomato-onion paste and saute again. Now add leftover marination, cumin powder and red chili powder.
    • Saute it again. Add cashew paste and 1/2 cup water. Mix it well. Add salt and cover with lid and cook it for 5 mins.
    • Now add fried prawns, sugar and 1 tbsp dry fenugreek leaves. Cover it and cook for next 10 mins until the oil separate. If you want the dish to be watery curry then adjust the volume or water added. Serve it with roti, naan or pulao.
